| The Penarth Chamber of Trade has been assisting Penarth Town Council with the organisation and marketing of this year’s Summer Festival which is being themed as ‘The Pirates of Penarth’. As part of this we have organised two key opportunities for businesses to raise their profile by getting involved with the Festival. These are the Pirate Treasure Trail and the Best Dressed Pirate Window. |
| Businesses that want to take part need to complete and return this form no later than Friday 6 June. Space on the Treasure Trail is limited and entries will be offered on a first come first served basis. Whilst the Pirate Treasure Trail is open to all Penarth businesses, priority will be given to those businesses who are members of the Penarth Chamber of Trade. |

| Pirate Treasure Trail |

As part of the Penarth Chamber of Trade’s mission to promote support of local businesses, the Pirate Treasure Trail is aimed at encouraging people to visit Penarth shops and businesses whilst also helping to promote the Festival. The Pirate Treasure Trail is a competition aimed at families with children between the ages of 5 and 11. Two children will win the chance to be the Pirate King and Pirate Queen in the Summer Parade on Saturday 12 July. In June, the Penarth Times will publish a full page Treasure Map with a list of clues leading to the treasure. Each participating business will be listed together with a clue. People taking part will need to visit the shop or business or visit their website in order to find the answer to the clue. Parents will be advised to accompany their children when they are looking for the answers to the clues. The clues should be pirate themed and it will be up to each business to decide how they wish to display the answer to their clue. For example, for a jeweller, the clue could be “What is the Pirate Queen’s favourite gem stone?” The answer might be in the window or on the website or people may have to come inside and either ask a member of staff or look for the answer on a sign or poster. Once people have collected the answers to all of the clues they will submit their entries and two winners will be selected from the correct entries. The winners will be provided with costumes to take part in the parade. |
